im trying to plan my 280 ray tank since im waiting a month for a replacement. (cracked tank) planning 2-3 small rays to start with. (i understand adult size, there are always bigger tanks), i have a 16" niger cat, 10" irwini and a 12" fire eel that will join them. im looking for some mid-top water fish to fill the void. i dont want to add any more big nasty fish so no arowanas, silver dollars. maybe some caracins or small peaceful s/a cichlids. id like to keep the s/a theme

I like to use albino tin foil barbs or regular tin foil barbs. Very active and always on the move. Great ray poop eaters and great clean up crew. As for cichlids, I always liked Mesonauta insignis, festiva's and mirificus. But I could never find them around. So, I have no clue if they would work, but I pretty sure they would.

Try indo pacific tarpon, hampala bard, cigar skark, are good schooling fishes.

iv e forgotten about festiviums. havent seen them in a really long time. i may get be a batch of them and keep the s/a thing going

find something with a low bio-load.. with 5 to 6 different fish (2 to 3 being rays), you want to watch your bio-load in a 280 gallon..
