I have 4' 90G tank with 8 inch JD male, 5 in Salvini female and Pleco - just added 4in Midas to the tank. will the JD and Salvini get destroyed? I recently moved a mating pair of nics out of the tank because they started with the JD and Salvini when breeding. THen the JD and Sal formed an alliance and I had to move the nics or they would be dead. Then the salvini took over the tank from the JD. Just added Midas yesterday. Pretty fish. Can this work?

Note lot of caves, driftwood and sand bottom

soon they will all get destroyed, including your 8" dempsey.

Midas/RD do best solitare, unless they are in a large tank.

i think 3 generally aggressive cichlids is pushing it in a 4ft tank.
look at my sig, the midas is a 9" female and the GT is 4-5". they are in a 65g ish tank 48x18x17 approx (its bow fronted). they do fine. she is beginning to make it looked small at 9" though.

however, i added tankmates with her when she was only about 4" or so and i think luck played a part too.
i dont know if i would attempt tankmates with a male midas and i dont know if i would risk tankmates with another one unless its in a 5ft tank or larger because i believe i have the exception to the rule of midas + tankmates rather than the rule.

only you know your fish but even then it may become a tank killer.

i think the midas is female and since she is a juvie I thought the JD could set the pecking order and they could co exist later. or that wont matter once the midas grows. the JD has it hiding in the corner for now. I think i might just have to accept the JD and sal pleco as a kind of boring tank. Would you keep a Midas over a JD in a 90G?

I would def keep a midas over a JD, you gotta love that midas attitude, but who knows if it is a female and smaller than the JD it just might work out (heck they might even pair up lol)
