Midas ate a zebra danio

My Midas that's only like 3 inches ate a zebra danio. Did he over due it? He's just swimming around holding his mouth open and you can see the danio

No he should be fine, if it's too large for him he'll spit it back up. I've had plenty of fish in the past to stuff their mouth like that.

I would make sure that he does in fact spit it up if he can't swallow it in a reasonable amount of time. Could really negatively affect water quality if he holds it in his mouth for a couple of days.
 
All cichlids have two sets of jaws, the ones in the mouth, and another set in the throat (similar to Alien) that helps work the item down, and grinds it up.
In nature Amphilophus eat insects, crush snails, eat detritus and catch small fish when they can, it is only acting normally, and definitely "not " overdoing it.
I would consider zebra danios and any other similar sized fish in the Midas tank, feeders.
