Just curious, and sorry if it's been asked before. I couldn't find the answer anywhere else on here. Do most midas (or RD for that matter) change color as they mature? I would venture a guess that the barred midas might not, but what about the orange/yellow/white ones? Also, when you get the RD/midas hybrids from stores, what are the odds they will end up with that nice thick, chunky midas body? In the future, I may be interested in either a barred or white one, but can you tell when they are young at all? Thanks!

yes most midas and rd change colors during the process of growing. the odds of getting a rd/midas from a lfs that will get chunky is very high...i believe most of the have more of a midas in them. the majority of a young barred will look like a midas or a rd so you cant tell unless you are getting them from a breeder or so...white one are hard to tell apart when young too. just gotta get them when they're a bit larger; say about 3-4"...even that doesn't prove them to be all white since they will change color as they grow...good luck
