How does it work? If you get a Barred Midas, it's gonna be barred and it'll always be the same color, right?

But then there's the colored ones. And there's ones that start out one color and change later?

Are all these color morphs the same species -- A. Citronellum?

A Midas that will change colors--what's the term? A Piebald?

When do they change? Can the breeder tell me what color it will change to when it does change?

And MOST importantly, how can I get a solid yellow, or solid white Midas that I know won't change color when it matures?

If you were to get a A. amarillo, There's a very good chance most will be barred.
If you get an A. citrinellus, it will start out sort of barred, and then fade at 4" give or take.
There are those that can go either way.
If both parents are faders, there's a pretty good chance the young will be, but not 100%, and there are usually a certain percentage in every spawn that will be barred, or mottled.
Just the same as in fenestratus, get normal colored ones, and most of the young will be normal, but not 100%, and visa versa if you get the piebald, or solid color version.

So, two grey barred midas, true Citrinellus, full grown and mature, gray with black bars. They get together and have, say, 300 fry. How many of the 300 will be Grey Barred, how many will be orange, yellow, combinations? Is Piebald/orange/yellow/white more rare? Or is the grey with black bars more rare?

If I have a Barred Midas now at about 6-8 inches, could it "fade" later? Or it would have faded already if was gonna?

And what about the solid yellow, and solid white ones? Are those just luck? How many grow up to be solid colored?

I'd really like a solid yellow one. And I'm wondering if I'd have to just breed some and wait a year to see how tbd fry come out. Id need a couple tanks.

My wife ain't gonna like this at all.
