New to the site, but have been obsessively keeping cichlids for 28 years now. My absolute fav are my Midas (likely devil/midas hybrids, I'm well aware, but I much prefer the Midas body type and aim for that in my fish). I don't even know how many I've kept over the years, but lots. After a few years off of large tanks and cichlids (during which I bred thousands of koi plakat bettas lol), a year ago I had to venture back to my first love and purchased 6 little 1.5" midas babies last April. Few months ago a pair formed and in December I gave them their own 6ft tank, and within a week they spawned. I've always kept my midas as solo fish in their tanks, so this is my first time watching them parent. The fry are a little over a month old and while the swarm is much smaller than what originally hatched, they're still a happy family for now.

Beautiful tank, love the black substrate!
Fish look happy and healthy ?

Great to see your latest edition of creamsicle midas. I always loved seeing your past creamsicles. I have owned a couple over the years, my current adult male is mostly orange, going on 10 yrs of age now, and approx 14". Love that fish, good luck with yours!

This is my big fella.

He's a beauty! I've had a few solid orange males over the years too, and they've been some of my favourite fish. My last guy was mostly orange with a bit of white on his sides, and he was about 13 years old when he finally passed away. He, too, was 14" in size and no one ever believed me that he was that big, saying Midas just don't get that large lol. Still miss him!
