I have about a 6 inch male green terror and a midas that is about 5 inches. These two are acting very strange. The green terror keeps displaying and head shaking for the midas. Is it possible for these two fish to breed successfully? If so what would the offspring look like? Any pictures out there? Post them please.

I definitely think they could breed together since they are the only ones together. For me I would not be to excited since I am not into the hybrid thing.

Their not the only ones in the tank if thats what your saying. They share a 220 with two oscars and a jack. But these two are the only ones acting this way. It may just be aggression i guess, But they are swimming together most of the time then the terror starts to display erect fins, head shaking the midas watches this with no response then the terror chases it away just to do a repeat a few minuets later. I would just like to see what the offspring could look like if they were to breed. Does anyone have any pics or a link to see any?

most people will say its not possible because of the area they are from i think thats a false statement. seen cubans or haits that have bred with north american and central american cichlids before

Sounds like a territorial thing...

My male Jag does this to my male midas.

could be, I know the green terror is male but im not sure about the Midas. I also have a jack Dempsey and the green terror fights with him also but its different between the Midas and the terror. It really looks more like a mating display to me. IDK I guess time will tell. I'm just wondering as to what the babies would look like?

Do you have a picture of the 2 fish in question. We may be able to sex them for you to get confirmation.

I thought mine was mating display.. then I learned my jag was a male. haha.

lets see some pics, the pair is unlikely and both
species are very aggressive, they could possibly
be both male of same size and just flaring but
not lip locking yet. Pics would def. help you out.
I have never actually seen a pic of this hybrid,
I personally own convictxflowerhorn, but
midas are very difficult to sex especially
and midas/RD,
Please post pics

Its possible they paired up but they will never produce fry... green terrors cannot hybridize outside their genus....
