I just got ride of two jack dempseys and traded them in for a midas. However, ever since I put him in the tank, he has not moved from his spot. My water quality is perfect and so is the temperature. My question is, is this normal for a new fish to act this way in a new environment? I have a Red Devil in a different tank however when ever I got him, he never acted this way. Please help.

all fish are different give him time he is just mad at the whole move
btw welcome to mfk

It's typical for many cichlids to sulk about when they experiance a lot of change. Mine did the same thing but now he is very active. Moving rocks and doing the feed-me dance.

It is completely natural for a fish to hide. Some are shy and some never are. I have a Synspillum that is twice the size of the baby flowerhorns that he is with, and he has hidden for the last month, only coming out to grab a quick bite of food and then retreats again. They almost always grow out of their shyness, it just takes time.

First, define perfect water quality; what are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings?

Also, what size tank is it, and are there any other fihs in the tank?
