Hi, i was wondering if i could have a midas in a 40x18x19" tank? it has minimum decor and few plants, or would it be better to have a GT in the tank instead?, it has a fluval 4+ and a built in trickle filter running on it and i do 10-20% weekly water changes. Thanks for looking.

GT 60g is to small for a midas imo

Yeah i was leaning towards a GT but i was not sure, i love midas and GTs i was planning to put a GT in my 120g with my 2 sevs and my arow.

U probaly could keep it in the tank for a while but probaly not for ever unless it is a female

I would deffinatly do a GT. They are much better looking and stay a better size for the tank.

It's funny because when I spoke to Rapps on the phone, he actually told me a Male Midas woudl work in a 60 gallon tank that is 15 inches deep. Since I know they can get to up to 16, I think he gave me bad advice lol. Minimum 18' deep tank for a male Midas.

Of course for a 60, a GT would be the better choice. Unless of course you got a female Midas.

i've kept a juvie male in a boxy 55. (18" deep, 3' long) for several months now as he's grown out. emp400/eheim2217 filtration with 30-40% weekly wc.
he's nearly 9" now and in great shape.
will be moved to my 75 (at least) come january.

i think a year in your 60 tank as a growout would be ok with an upgrade required soon after though.
