I recently purchased a Midas or so I was told. what are the visual differences between the midas and the red devil. Are they truly different species. And at what size can I de termin sex and how. I know I purchased a fish without much knowledge but just had to have one. Any info would be appreciated. also what size tank will it need at full size I have a 55 now but am looking for its replacement.

Post a pic I'm being lazy.

75 or 90 is ok for one midas. How big is it, where did you get it? Everyone will say its a mutt if you got from lfs so...

Midas will get big humps, rds may have bugger lips, do some reading this gets asked every other day

just pick which one you want it to be and roll with that. Bout the best youre going to get really, unless the person was absolutely sure

I have done quite a bit but every one posts a pic I am looking for more visual guides I bought it from a reputable lfs not a pet store. I think its lips look large compared to other fish its size it is about 3.5 -4 inches and almost all pink now. thank you for the info about what age does the hump start to grow

If they all post pics use those to compare to yours. What does reputable lfs mean? I know of some that are reputable but sell mixes, so unless they tell you who it is from then there is no way for you to know for sure. I dono where the posts are but there are tons that all they have is descriptions of the differences between the two, and you will never know for sure. Longer, thinner bodies w bigger lips, look at the shape of the mouth, is it more of a V or a U? Loota guys here who know a lot more so maybe the cit experts will help you, but you need apic

These are mine a Barred Midas and a RD
