Was on a Facebook debate where they say FOR SURE this is a pure red devil based on nothing but the looks of the fish. It looks to be about 4-5", I suggested it's probably I hybrid and was told I was for sure wrong. What do you all think? I had a Midas that looked similar to this one but larger and there are a few characteristics that look similar to mine but some that don't.

Without knowing where it came from I say hybrid. You can't eyeball some fish and say they're pure

Agree with Mike. Simply looking at this fish and saying it's a pure RD (or Midas for that matter) is just ridiculous.

That's what I thought. Red Devils have a more pointed snout than Midas. And I told them without knowing where it came from you can't be for sure. I told them it more than likely came from a LFS and you couldn't say it was for sure a red devil or Midas unless it came from a reputable dealer

For reference: Attached is a picture of my MidDevil, who clearly has more of a Midas shape/build than a RD. However, because I didn't buy it from a reputable seller, it's only fair to assume it's a mix of the two species, regardless of the traits it shows.

Yeah lol. They are saying for sure it's a red devil still, whatever, you can't explain things to anyone
