I just pick this guy up today at the LFS this guy came in last week and since he has been in he really hasn't eaten at all. I paid like $20 for him I just hope I can figure out what the deal is. Oh and he like 13in this guy is huge. Right now he sits alone in a 50gallon but sure to end up in the 180gal.

really nice . red devil or those type of cichlids(amphilophus) dont eat sometimes ,dont trip ive been keeping these guys for about 30 years , ive had huge midas that dont eat too much but grow . i always keep my midas . that fish is healthy and a bad ass

Seeing that makes me wonder if i want one... its a very nice looking fish!, but i spose i need a bigger tank first heh.... As for not eating, if you get to worried i mean there are alot of things people suggested to me, e.g. soaking pellets in garlic, using earthworms, epson salt in the water. i mean the list goes on! but i probably wouldn't worry to much i mean, everything needs to eat sometime!

Yes we will see what happens but for the most part he is really good looking!

your $20 equates to about £12 here. i wish i could pick up such a cracking fish for little over a tenner.

Maybe tonight or tomorrow I will upload a video. The other question is he was fed feeders, I don't feed my fish feeders will that be hard for him to go from feeders to frozen and pellet food?

It shouldn't be too hard, and feeders are definitely NOT a natural food for that species. They may catch the odd little fish over the course of their lives in the wild, but they are definitely not evolved to capture fish. They are invertebrate feeders.
