I have a midas that is rounder in the body and has eyes that look much different from my other red devil/midas eyes. This Midas's eyes are dark black with virtually no yellow in it. Can someone tell me what the deal is with this fish? Is this a good or bad thing?

I will try to get pics up tommorrow. I have been running all night selling stuff in the paper. I just sold my 4 wheeler, trailer, and a bunch of other stuff so I'm a tad tired. This fish is an F1 midas and I can tell a huge difference over the others I have owned in the fast. His body is much rounder than my other ones. I also just recently got a barred midas, but he has no bars...lol. I will get pics up as soon as possible.

I had a midas with eyes like that. I bet if you look really close there are little patches of gold or red around the outer band of his eyes. I would look for his eyes to change some.

Do the bars on the barred midas show more later. I heard conflicting things on this. Some say the bars show more once they are no longer a juvenile and other say they will fade out.

I'm confused with everything i've heard about midas/red devils, i still haven't heard of a definitive id method to distinguish between the two (c. citrinellum/c. labiatum) and people have midas and true devils that look like mine which was sold as c. labiatum. Mine has huge puffy lips yet until the 5inch mark looked for all the world just like a striped midas.. Now he has nearly finished peeling out and is a dark yellow/orange all over and his eyes seem to look different every time i look at him.
No matter what they are they both seem to be awesome looking fish regardless and i would rather gnaw my own arm off than get rid of my Hellboy..
