Hey everyone
I own a midevil cichlid bought it a couple of weeks back..the problem is he/she is still skittish even still at feeding time he reluctantly comes to the surface of water and eats one pellet at a time..as far as decor is concerned there is nothing in the tank except for gravel in whcih he/she has digged out plenty of pits...any tips or suggestions to make him a bit environment and owner friendly..? Thanks

i have two midevils my small one is not skiddish at all and my big one like to stay in the corner in the hole that she dug in the sand. for decor i have sand substrate driftwood and PVC pipe for them to hide in

What size tank is he in? Why no decor to make him comfortable?

I would add some disposable dithers to the tank. A small school of Buenos Aires Tetras or swordtail/platy would help the fish feel more comfortable.

i agree with adding dithers, most fish feel more secure if they have a place to hide, pvc works great or driftwood and rocks always look good.how big is the fish?

Thank you everyone.. :)

he/she is in a 84g tank...i thought he would be comfy without decor but yes i was wrong added few and now would add a pvc..wouldnt he/she eat them ?

yeah added few rocks and artificial plants now would add a pvc...he/she is about 5 to 6inchs

They can re-arrange pvc easily unless you weight it down, but its too tough to eat or break it.seems 5-6 inches or more is when they get braver, also move gravel or anything in the tank, protect you heater!

yeah i fully agree with that...sure will do that though pvc is yet to be purchased...he/she hasnt dug much pits after adding plants and rocks except few which arent as deep as the were in the past...any ideas for his/her tankmates ? presenlty he is all by himself..

My honest opion get another one most midevils I have had you can pet them, I just got a 3 to 4 incher and comes right up to my hand. Up to you but thats just what I would do because thats what makes amphilophus so amazing!
