Hi, I just purchased this interesting looking fish from a LFS, the fish was not labeled, but was in a tank with red devils. He looked very different from the rest, his snout does not protrude and he has a smooth sloping forehead. I particularly like the stripes going down his side, and that was also not present in the other fish. I visit this store a lot and know that they take a lot of trade-ins, sometimes hybrids. So if this is a hybrid of anything besides a midas/red devil, what may it be?IMAG0784.jpg

It's an orange chromide, Etroplus maculatus. They are Asian cichlids, found in India and Sri Lanka.

Agreed ... it's the line bred form of E. maculatus.
