Well I feel this Is a first. I'm starting a tank for the catfish iv always wanted but didn't have room for. They are starting in an 80gallon tank. But I can't think of any mid and upper level fish for this tank. The stock I have now are 4 eclipse cats, 2 spotted raphael cats and I'm thinking maybe some pictus cats. The plan is to move them up to the 125 when necessary.

So my question is, what is a good mid and upper level fish for this tank? The best I can think of now are silver dollars. Any other ideas?

How about clown loaches, if you're talking about the thing 'dullness' because it lacks activity then go for clown loaches... And don't worry, once they hit 6-8" they'l be slow growers...

Iv considered it. Ill add that to the list. Iv also considered african butterfly fish. I guess I'm looking for ideas, something I may have missed.

I'd think the main worry is that they don't grow huge, don't fit in your cat's mouth and aren't too delicate (butterfly can be?) or too aggressive (certain/most cichlids). Would not many fish work for that? Larger peaceful barbs (tin foils may grow too big for a 125), tetras, piranhas (as you said silver dollars, red hooks), goldfish, sharks (like bala, although they will get too big for a 125), rainbows, larger danios, etc. maybe some livebearers, killies, mollies could work.
