Well i missed it again, it seems like ever time i turn out one of my 24'' lights ''somebody'' comes up short!!.. after feedind my 10 quarter size red belly piranha's, theie dinner of ''red worms''..(lil earth worms) im watching how the last and biggest guppie, hanges out with the school, and evean thou, he gets bullied and chased, he still comes around, and try to blend in, its funny i though.. lokk at this lil ''MF''getting a pass to hang out with killers, i like this lil guppie, smiled at the lil guppie, turned the lights out and left the room, 20 or 30 mins latter, i walk up to the tank and see some comoation going on , the same type of keep away and zipin in and out with food, then i see my biggest ''p'' wihh a chunk of white and blue meat, then anotha one seems to come up to the tank with the tail sticking out of his mouth, to confirm my thought, the guppie was gone:cry: :headbang2 , mixed fellings, for one im glad my team is starting to become come ruthless, but sad to see a trooper go, and this was right after dinner, they ate till they stoped?? then it looked like they started to get serious, as they fought over the last chunk of guppie meat, to liten the ''mood'' i threw in a brine shrimp cube, all but the one with the chunk, rushed it , the one with the last of the guppie stayed under they cave, till it was gone, then came out mad because he didnt get any shrimp, lol, i dont want to loose any of my ''P''s to a midnight snack, is this normal for young red belly's, what can i do to lighten them up a lil ??

Haha excellent. Its a shame the guppy didn’t last longer, would have made an excellent story to document on. But in answer to your question, midnight snacking is very common at their age.

In the wild, young piranhas hide by day, and hunt for food at night when there are fewer predators around. It is also hard to judge when you have given them enough to eat. As young piranhas tend to eat little and often instead of one big meal like their adult counterparts. Just keep their bellies bulging slightly and you should not have any midnight cannibalism.

thanks..Joshy
