Well as the title states I got a new custom made sump from Midwest aquariums. Obviously they are many cheaper alternatives and DIY sumps I could have done and looked into for awhile. But after looking for fthe right size used tank with the dimensions I wanted and needed to fit under my stand for awhile I decided to pony up and just get exactly what I wanted. First of all as a few people on here have stated already their a class act business and will defiantly use them if/ when I decide to upgrade my tank. Also it worked out nice because I have a large shop at my company's office and was able to get the freight delivered directly to me. Everything worked out perfectly .... until I took out my old sump and slid my new one in. They way I had it fitting was I had to slide my new sump in sideways through the gap in the side of the stand and than turn it over . Easy peasy until I went to turn it right side up. In all my measuring and plotting I didn't allow enough room under the tank to flip it over right side up Smh. After a little cussing and quick mental breakdown I decided there's only one option , to notch out enough room in the legs to slide the tank in right side up . Disclaimer .. DO NOT try this ! One of the sketchier things I've ever done with a tank , especially a 300 gallon tank weighing over 3000 pounds. After a few nerve wrecking minutes I got them cut out and sanded and was able to slide the sump in than immediately reinforced the notched out legs with 2" x 6"s . Of course in all my haste and moving I somehow made one of my return bulkheads start leaking. No tightening would stop it and I realized I needed to replace the bulkhead . Once again easy peasy. Nope. The thread was comepletly jacked up and I couldn't back the nut off thanks to marine land having their cornerflow tanks bulkheads way up in the corner making it almost impossible not to mess up the thread with a wrench when installing the bulkheads. So I had to cut it out with my dremil. That was fun. All in all 4 hours later I have my new sump up and running . This hobby is so rewarding but man it will make you work for it lol. TL;DR. Sweet new custom sump Didn't fit. Had to cut stand with tank still on it and broke bulkhead.

Thanks dude ! That's the truth I catch myself looking at the sump as much as the tank lol. And that reminds me I need to post some updated pics at some point in the near future. Your BD is looking great and growing like a weed ! haha

Glad to hear it, he looks great! I’m building a 60”x30” sump right now. I know how you feel all too well. I get the satisfaction in DIY and saving money but sometimes you just have to LS swap you tank, drive the hell out of it and smile LOL!

Ah man can't wait to see that sump ! Gonna be sweet. Wish mine was a little bigger but due to current conditions had to settle for a 4 ' x 2'. But should be plenty for my set up Specially now that I finally have a drip up and running. And the ray, lets just say he has some good genes ;)
