Its not official yet, but I think I may be getting him. The lady had a child so she is giving away the adult male iguana and a 5x6x2 cage. I am so excited. If anyone has some advice, or words of wisdom it is appreciated.

I believe he is quite large, I plan to let him semi free roam if he is good

If you are beginning and want a lizard go for a leo, or maybe a crested gecko, snake wise I would say a milk or kingsnake or ballpython maybe a childrens or spotted, and turtlewise I would say some type of musk. Thats just my .02 cents

go for it give the green guy a good home just be ready he might be a lil mean and stuborn mine is a free roamer its real fun just alil hard geting the heat and uv on him but i manage i love my igg hes cool

Is he tame? They are very aware of there surroundings and recognize people and faces . Give him time to get used to you and his new environment. Green Iguanas are in my opinion the most responsive and rewarding reptile there is out there. No two iguanas are the same each has there own personalities. Watch humidity levels and soak him often to keep him well hydrated for his longevity. A varied high nutritious diet high in calcium and low in phosphorus. Animal protein is not essential and should be kept low. A treat at best. Sun light is keen an in absence A high quality UV bulb combined with multiple basking bulbs to form a hot zone not a hot spot. Good luck!!!

Thanks I love my Iguanas. So sad how many are not cared for properly and how many wild ones like in florida are euthanized when they could just be put back into the pet trade. Stop Importing them if we already have them here!

yea that would be so much better for the iggs i think iggs are the most mistreated reptiles sux cus i owned alot of herps from snakes to 6ft monitors and the igg is the only one with a real personality
