OK OK OK. HERES A DUMB QUESTION FOR ANYBODY ELSE, BUT FOR ME, ITS A HEAD SCRATCHER....

WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO CONNECT 2 POWERHEADS TOGETHER TO MAKE AN EFFICIENT ENOUGH PUMP TO DELIVER WATER FROM SUMP TO MAIN TANK?

EQUIPMENT: 150 GALLON GLASS TANK ABOUT 3 FEET HIGH WITH A STAND OF ABOUT 26" HIGH
-POWERHEAD 802 @ 400GPH
-PETCO BRAND KING 2HUNDREDSOMETHING POWERHEAD @ POSSIBLE 295 GIVE OR TAKE GPH
-DIY 1" PVC OVERFLOW WITH 1" D. HOSE @ 4' DOWN TO SUMP RATED @ 600+GPH(ACCORDING TO SOURCES FOUND ON GOOGLE)

HERES MY IDEA: I WOULD PLACE THE POWERHEAD 802 IN THE SUMP TO PUSH THE FILTERED H20 UP TO THE PETCO POWERHEAD IN THE MAIN TANK PLACED AT THE CENTER OF THE TANK. AND OH FOR THE PETCO POWERHEAD IM PLANNING ON A DIY SPRAYBAR FOR POWERHEADS. I DONT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK, BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT OR HEARD OF IT ATTEMPTED, SO IM GOING TO SEE HOW IT GOES... SO THE REASON FOR THE 802 BEING PICKED FOR THE PUMP IN SUMP IS BECAUSE IT HAS THE HIGHEST GPH RATE OUT OF THE 2. KNOWING IT WILL LOSE GPH DUE TO HEAD HEIGHT, IM HOPING ONLY DROPPING ENOUGH FOR THE PETCO P.H. TO KEEP UP WITH. SO THEREFORE, THE 802 WOULDNT BE PUSHING AS MUCH PRESSURE INTO THE PETCO POWERHEAD AS IT WOULD IF JUST USED AS A POWERHEAD @ 0' HEAD HEIGHT. REDUCING THE RISK OF HAVING TO GO OUT TO PURCHASE A NEW POWERHEAD. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS IDEA. ANY TIPS, ADVICE, INFO, FEEDBACK, ETC WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

P.S. THE OVERFLOW GPH IS CAUSING THE OVER FLOW TO BE FILLED MORE THAN WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE. THE 2 POWERHEADS ARE HAVING A TOUGH TIME PUSHING UPWARDS, BEING UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH OVERFLOW GPH.

No, you can't combine the pump to create more flow. You're just gonna have to buy a pump that is designed to push water.

Also, your overflow should never flow more than what you are putting into the tank. If this is the case, you should look at repositioning the height of the overflow or lowering the water level in the system. Once you have a pump, you should be able to tune the system to work effectively.
 
I tried to connect to actual pumps together and well lets just say it was not what I hoped for.
 
You do know your cap lock key is on, right?
