i have always wanted a lungfish and have seen dan at tropical imports could possibly be getting some south americans in at 2" so i was wondering if i gould grow it out to around 8" in a 15 gal themn move it into a 5x2x2 with a fire eel, senegal bichir, pleco and 7 clown loach between 7-9". I know pleco are supposed to eat the slime coats of fish but hes around 12" and used to live with discus and caused them no harm at all.

and iforgot to mention it would be moving into a 8x3x3 after 1 year of being in the main community.
I wouldnt get a SAL at that size, they dont survive very well, they are quite slow growing, id feed it on bloodworm chopped up twice dail and grow it on its own in the 15 gal to start with.
thanks bruce, when you say they dont survive that well what do you mean as i would have it on its own in the 15 would this be a problem?
Little guys can be kind of delicate. I'd just make sure that it was feeding before you purchase it. As long as it's by itself and you keep the water clean I would think it would do fine. They don't grow that slowly, just comparatively slow (e.g. compared to WAL). I got mine at about 15" a little less than a year ago and he's put on probably 7 inches in that time and gotten a lot fatter.

Thanks i wanted something to grow out in my 5x2x2 before buliding a bigger tank but they do seem fragile.
