I just came up with the idea of upgrading my existing 473 liter to a custom 682 liter in some years if I can save up enough for it. And it's possible I might end up going with a DIY, so I'm putting this thread here.
This upgrade is not guaranteed to happen, but if the stars align and it can, I'll have this thread to reference.
Said 682 liter's custom dimensions are going to be a 244x61 cm footprint with a 45 cm height, to get the footprint of a 908-1135 liter on a tank that can fit through the doors in my house and is less likely to cause a weight related issue to the floor. I am also going to have it on the floor with no stand to circumvent a gravitational issue that prevents me using a Python to clean my upstairs tanks.
My biggest concerns about this tank are as follows:
-The most practical plan I could think of to move the fish was to put them in a tote with decor, tank water, and running filters until the old tank was replaced and the new one ready. Is this around as practical as it can get, or is there anything else I should know?
-I was considering going rimless until it hit me that a rimless tank wouldn't necessarily allow the hang on back filters and lids (therefore also lights) to fit properly. How justified is this concern?
Now if this upgrade doesn't happen there is no issue, as the 473 liter is still going to be enough space. I just hope to do it as well as possible if it does.
Cheers!
