i have had this little guy for ohhh... 2-3 years, when i bought it it was all white, with light gray lines, then after about a year he got a bright blue lines then that deepened to a darker blue, and depending on the day its either a lighter blue or a deep dark blue colour. he bullies my other yellow labs a bit and im absolutly no good at sexing fish and please dont ask me to vent it.

please tell me what sex it is and why you think so... thanks alot!...

perhaps the # of yellow dots, or that his dorsal fins arent pointy at the end. however it could just mean that sometime before another fish nibbed his fin. but I m not so sure I still say its a girl.

hmm, then i would have to agree, the top pic is the newest and the bottom one is the oldest, funny but if you look at them the dots moved...??? weird? but yah the anal fin is quite round and it always had been.

here is the oldest pic i have of "her" at about 1 year old.

"she" is in the back... but you can see the anal fin

as you can see the rocks havent been over grown yet...

Its a male, and its very fat :P I'd put him on a serious diet if you want him to have a reasonable lifespan ;)

i must have flip-flopped on this like 10 times, now i think its a female due to the curvature of the anal fin... its curved not pointed.

I know that in this species the females are a creamy whit and the males are blue, but this might just be a domonent female..., DAMM IT I DONT KNOW!!!

As for the diet...

its a 80 gallon tank,
-one chisumulae(female),
-one Auratu(female),
-one Duboisi(female(eats nothing but plants and algae)),
-two Chisumulu(male and female(where 3)),
-two cobalt zebras(one male one female(where two females)),
-one red zebra(female)
-four Yellow labs(one domonent male and three females/one sub-dom.2 females)

4 algae eaters that are the hardest working guys EVER!!!
-one marbaled(4"-5"),
-two chinise(bolth around 5"-6"),
-one siamese(3"-4"))

I have two very strong powerheads on the tank and i keep my xp3 clean so the food gets blown around(i never vaccume because of this), it must be a fluke that the food falls into her pot/cave because the female auratus eats first and last... and she seems to burn it off somehow.

I feed frozen(brine shimp, beef heart, marine diet, mysis shrimp, krill, plankton, veggie), Algae wafers(for the dudoisi) Tetra colour bits, Cichlid attack, and Hikari Cichlid Gold... and on the off chance once a month i feed ghost shrimp(40-50ish) or cray fish. and they get there fill of red/brown algae / green algae, as well as the plants. I try to hand feed the smaller ones more but short of getting a bigger tank there isnt much i can do, although a bigger tank with ony 12 of these guys wont be that good either.

At the peek and at its calmest i had 20 in this tank and i just kept loosing one every now and then -due to accsidents/injuries(on rocks) fights, old age- and not buying more, they where so calm and peacefull that i got babies about 1" (Chisumulu/red zebras) and they did well, my av. is one at about 1.5"long
