Would a 55 gal be good for a pair of Amphilophus lyonsi?
I did a google search and found some sites saying min 40 gal and some saying up to a min of 180 for one pair.
Thanks.

Mine PAIR :) Is in a 75 regular footprint. With a pair of cons and a Single male con and female Leucistic HRP.

They are ready to let lose :D

Waiting for eggs now :D

I would say the bare minimum would be a 40 as stated for a pair.. but it has been the experience from my reading that even in a 75 you risk losing one of the two to aggressiveness.... I haven't had this fear yet... But the smaller the tank I would believe the more danger of one killing the other...

Just my experience and Opinions based on experience and Reading:)

OH and MY male is 8-9" and female is 6"

So they should be ok but keep a dividor handy,
Thanks all

Yes. The should be fine in a 55g. And Yes keep a divider handy..
