I picked up a baby midas and jaguar a few weeks back, the midas sadly didnt have the personality I was looking for and was returned to the store after a week of fattening so he should be more than ok with his old tankmates. The little jag grew on me fast however. She is just awesome, she really doesnt know she is a jag yet. Shes very precocious and scared of her own shadow, but what I love is that she has a jaguar heart that is slowly coming out.

Right now she is in a ten gallon tank with some guppies, danios and tetras. No one bothers her, but she is almost comical when she chaes them away from her lair, They run from her but not too fast, shes just not that intimidating. I got a bag of ghost shrimp and put them in, they almost took over her cave and she had to get rough with them and finally figured out theyre edible. Ten days later and theres one really tough shrimp left, the rest were eaten by her with help from the tetras.

She loves her pellets too, and has finally started taking them from the top. What I like about her is that she is so harmless and cute, but she keeps trying new things and is getting bolder by the day. I figure if I give her good water, food and interaction she will grow into a great fish. She wont be in the ten gallon for more than a month, she will stay there until she is 2 inches max.

Notice the missing right fin: Im guessing it was torn off at some point and will grow back, but In really dont know. Any comments are appreciated.

What a beauty!

Thanks, I have my camera ready to capture some of her funnier moments of interaction with the guppies and tetras. When I put the pellets in the guppies rush up and she finally started competing with them. She's still too precocious to get the bloodworms, the other fish tear them up before she gets bold enough to take a bite. But that wont last long, she's becoming more aware of her own growing power.

Its not the worst news, if she grows up otherwise healthy its not a dealbreaker for me. It only bugs me visually, but it doesnt take away from the experience too much. Id prefer that it grow back, but if doesnt I wont sweat it. She seems to have adapted to it pretty well.

Nice to hear, someone who truly loves thier fish no matter what.I am happy for you.

Well thank you, Im no Jacques Cousteau but I bond with my pets and physical defects can make them more endearing.

Cute little Jag :) how come you are letting it grow with the little guys tho? I tried that with mine and everything got devoured :O
