Take a look at this, I found the thread on fnzas and had to laugh, I have never heard of a dwarf jag and i think this guy is full of it but what do you all think, we have jags and they are big and just getting bigger!!!

here is the link to the add and I read they frequently put this add up and when you ask for the scientific name they get pissy with you and wont answer.

But like I say take a look for your self and tell me what you think:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Fish/auction-116078106.htm

sounds a bit fishy

the males smaller than the female at max size:WHOA:

boy i think iam going to have to put a bulk order in quick...must get me a mini jag...

It's bogus. The guy dosen't even have proper grammer or spelling, looks like some kid trying to make a buck off of ignorant fishkeepers. That or he himself is ignorant. Maybe he thinks because his fish are breeding at that size that they are maxed out. The only "mini-jags" out there are stunted jags. Dosen't matter anyway, the bid is closed.

I've got a Jag that I've had for a year and a half. Was about an inch when I got him. He's about 3 inches now. Is this normal? He lives alone in a 75 gallon tank. 79 degrees with 2 Emperor 400's for filtration. I do water changes (25%) Every two weeks.

sorry mate but i think NO ....only because i brought my jag last day of febuary this year at 2inches and hes already made the 10inch mark and going more......
have you always had it in the 75g?
often water changes helps and a great diet......are you sure its a jaguar cichlid<Managuense

1. Feed the hell out of him
2. Do a 25% WC every 4 days (Thats what I do)

Might make a difference, if not, then you have a funky Demon fish (.... I didn't even notice that was your user name)

He's definitely a Jag. I was wondering about the dwarf factor as I actually read in a real fish magazine a few months back about Dwarf Green Terrors that only get a couple of inches long rather than the common 12 inches or so. I thought maybe that this applies to the Jag as well. I've had Oscars in the past that simply exploded and were close to the one foot mark after a year. Didn't know what the deal was with the jag. I don't have a digital camera, but I'll see what I can do about a pic.

Mini jags sound like a joke. 10" sounds like a stunted jag. As for "mini" anything. I think those are hybridized fish usually.
