Heya, im playing in FW for the first time in awhile. I know in SW if you move a tank you can get a Mini cycle which can kill off a lot of live stock, so I got one of my older tanks back from the parents (They decided they didn't want it) and basically I took EVERYTHING out of it, except gravel and 1" of water, its like i did a 95" Water Change, same filter, gravel and fish (They will be finding new homes, this tank will house an EBJD :D

So should i expect some kind of cycle ? or pretty much fill her up with water and get it to temperature and plop the fish in ?

Depends on how long the gravel/bio media if any were disrupted for... its possible you might get some cloudyness but id be surprised if any kind of cycle occured.

well, thats good news. I didnt get any cloudyness, but i got some brown tinted water, my parents really let that thing go, rofl

The only problem I see with that is if the nutrifying bacteria was deprived of O2 long enough then most of it will have died off and your in even worse shape than starting from scratch. Personally I always concider any move as a fresh start and wait for the system to stabolize before adding any fish.

Well, on the truck ride over, and of course moving it into the room and setting it up, there was quite a lot of movement in the water, basically if you see movement on the surface of the water, there is oxygen being mixed in of course, this thing didnt sit idle, so I dont think thats a problem

The inhabitants were already given away to a neighbor except the chocolate pleco, he seems fine in the tank. Altho... I think a pleco is a poor judge for this sorta things, he could live in a toilet.

LOL isn't that true... what size tank is this? and how long was the move?

It's a 40 gallon breeder, Acrylic I put it in the back of a slammed s10 so the suspension is already bumpy, and i drive kinda fast... lol. Move was only about 8 miles.

lol that should have been plenty of O2 exchange... nice tank by the way...one of my favorites.

Its by far one of my favorite shapes, the 40 gallon breeder, and 20 long are two of my favs, maximizing space is a good thing ;p
