I honestly can't remember the last time I saw the words "Marble Motoro" WITHOUT "mini" in front of it. Seems like overnight just like that any brown ray with orangish colored spots is immediately called a "mini". Wasn't more then a few years back everyone argued the existence of them and now every marble out there is "mini"

This is a pretty crazy phenomenon beings that litter sizes are so small. Since when are the people breeding them just liquidating them? Anyone I know working with them seem pretty choosy about where they go IF they even leave after being born???

Has the max size made them so popular that somehow there's a new supply to meet the demand??? Did someone figure out how to clone them?

How do they stay small if they are being hybridized like so many of the imports these days?

Where are all the pics of the pregnant little female mothers? Or the 7-8 males with claspers that look like they belong on something a foot or better across???

Doesn't it take several to many years to determine the mininess?

AM I the only one who's noticed this? Maybe I'm loosing my mind?

I have wondered about this also. But I have no answers for u. Either way minis aren't for me. MONSTERS!

The term mini has sparked much interest in the marble motoro world in the last couple years. But yes I agree, I've been seening wild caught plain marbles being listed online as mini marbles. Not to mention just about any marble posted says mini in front of it. They do not even have the dead give away mini traits, that only the real mini keepers know about. ? Last I knew there was only about 5 or 6 of us here in the states with animals large enough to breed that are true mini from wild blood.
I think the only marbles I have seen listed in more recent times as "marble motoro" and not "mini marble" are ones we have listed for sale on the website. Lol and they are actually from a line where both parents are under 12"... LOL

What would the growth difference be between the two in say 6 months 1 year, 3 years etc?

From my experience you really notice the difference in growth between the two from 4 months onwards. Mini marbles grow at probably two thirds of the rate of standard ones and seem to slow and max out around 18 months or often earlier whereas standard ones carry on with noticeable growth for over two years. All rays are different though and a lot of variables determine the growth like diet, frequency of feeding and tank temp.
I’ve attached a pic of my mini male that’s nearly 3 years old with two pups he sired in July with a standard marble. They were new born in the pic and almost as big as him ?

flyingsaucer owner flyingsaucer owner cheers for that info,
I purchased some a while back that I trust are minis as they are from a reputable breeder in the uk.I was just curious on growth differences as mine eats like a pig and have grown rather quick.
The patterns on Mine are amazing at the moment I assume these darken with age do they?
