Hi
I would prefer for it to not mess up decor and i would like live plants so lower ph is ideal but i can make higher ph work. It doesn't have to be "mini" but I don't think there is a regular monster fish that can fit in a 60 gallon, but a bigger fish would be prefered. the tank is about 50 inches long. Thanks! I'm new here and so far I like it!:)

What about a pair of betta macrostoma???

Great color for a planted tank and one larger bettas species which fits what you are after possibly???

South American puffers are great, and they will take care of any snails on your plants. You can have a nice colony of 10-12 in a 60 gallon.

knobhill knobhill Do you mean South American Puffer as in C.Asellus? Coz if that is the case i would say more likely max 6 of them as they do reach around 3" max... The teeth trimming may also put the OP off a little...

On the otherhand if you meant dwarf puffee, then could easily do 10-12 in there, maybe 3 males / the rest females...

Maybe Redfin pikerel other choices include African butterfly fish, blue Rams, mascara barbs, glowing coal barbs, or albino farlowellas maybe?

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I think Im going with the Amazon puffers, would some of the smaller botia loaches do well with them? I've heard they are to aggressive from some sources, and the can go with other fish as long as they are fast enough from others.

Thanks!

E Esoteric_aquariums Most puffers are recommended as species only tanks, mainly due to the fact when they get curious it can turn deadly...

Also, the South American Puffer can sometimes have a teeth overgrowth problem, so may require manually trimming their teeth down, even with a constant hard shelled diet...
