Planning to get my son his own monster fish tank but not going to start him with any of the complicated/big boys toys. Planning to get him a 3feet by 1.5 feet by 1.5 feet tank to get him started. this would be the 1st time he would get his own monster tank.

Was thinking of the following fishes to get him started:
1) Hydrolycus Tatauaia (Redtail Payara)
2) Polypterus Delhezi
3) Hoplerythrunus Unitaeniatus (Gold Wolf Fish)

Would this mini monster tank work given the size of the tank?

Need bigger tanks for the payara and even the gold wolf.

I'd say go with a delhezi. Can add some scombs with it if decent size. Still get ur payra but smaller.

Could be another possibility.

Iirc, a red wolf wld grow up to a max of 8-9"
Whereas a gold wolf wld reach up to 11-13" (iirc)
Read up abt the redtail payara, they dont grow to such a big size compared to say a armatus.
The delhezi is his fav atm, whenever i bring him to the local lfs, he keeps asking when he can get his own delhezi..

Trying not to put too many fishes into his tank as he is just starting off.
Worried that the work it takes to care for a predator tank might put him off and end up the tank will fall into my care..

The fishes i selected at the OP is based on size compatability since all 3 roughly grow to almost the same size (+/-) based off what ive been readin up abt each species here in MFK.

Get your son the Polypterus delhezi. Easy to care for and then can always add something later. Polys for the win!
