First id like to just introduce myself, im Tyroneous and i live in Hawaii. I currently have one 2inch tiger Oscar, in a 55gal tank. I did have 3 golden Tilapia (oreochromis mosambicus) and one (i think it was a black-chin tilapia, i caught it with a net in a creek). But the tilatpia started to get too big so i gave em to my dad who does Aqua-ponics.

Im looking for info on SMALL 6inch and under fish. I do like cichlids, but its not nessecary. Im looking for a hearty, attractive fish that will eat smaller fish, and hopefully has a bit of personality.

What are some of the meanest little live feeders around? Something that is truly a Mini Monster?

Thanks,
T

could you tell the a keyword i could search the threads with?

I have tried searching "mini" "small aggressive" ect...

Hmmmmmmm...smallISH aggresive fish. since you do have a 55 gallon tank, definitely get some polpterus AKA bichirs. these are absolutely stunning fish. They are prehistoric serpant like fish. they have subspecies that grow from 8 inches to 35 inches!!! For a 55 gallon tank, i would get either a few (2 or 3) albinos, senegals, or palmas bichirs. These species only get to around 8 to 12 iches. You won't regrete getting them. The only concern is your oscar, once the oscar grows, it might try to "bully them." Go and learn more about these facinating fish.

they are very cool fish. Unfortunately i have never seen one here in Hawaii. There are some places that sell assorted cichlids, JD, O's, GT and some freshwater PFs. Oh and the Oscar will be traded back to the lfs when it gets too big, so these fish will not be tankmates.

After some serious forum digging i found the thread and read all 30 pages... whew. It was EXACTLY what i was looking for. Thanks for taking the time to guide a Noob like me.

No problem. Sorry if I sounded rude or blunt but spend enough time on here and you start to see lots of similar threads popping up, sometimes it gets a little annoying lol.

I'm new to online forums in general, but I have been on a different site's (non fish related) forums, and your absolutely right when you say that seeing the same question posted ad nauseum gets annoying. This thread had like 60 views before someone threw me a bone. lol
