My tank has finally finished cycling again. So the first set fish got added today. Ive got 2 hujeta gars(2"-3"), and a tire track eel(5-6").
i cycled the tank with feeders, and less then 5 mins into the new tank, one of the hujetas has already eaten 3 guppies. i figured i would at least have till tomorrow to have to buy more feeders, guess not.
Ill post pics as soon as i find my camera. Any tricks, hints, helpful advice is very much appreciated.

Start saving for a larger tank if you don't already have one.

I have a 54 corner sittin empty right now. so i have their first upgrade here. i choose this tank to set up specifically because i knew theyed be that small when i got them. I saw them 3 weeks ago while looking for little stuff for the 5gal at work. came home the next day and set the 29 up again and let it sit till today when relised that teh cycle was done. i hadnt checked the water params in about a week( A watched pot never boils, so i didnt check them everyday, lol) Any tips on feeding the Tiretrack, i had one before but never saw it eat, i had it about a year until i gave it away becasue i didnt have time to take care of the tank. I was feeding blood worms, flakes, feeders, spiniach, before.(it was in the 54 with a hujetaa, 3 larger redtail sharks, a black shark, and three iridesent sharks) i know it eat live black worms, because he was in the QT tank with a spiny, but they are to expensive and hard to find around me.

well the other gar is eating already also. SWEET. the tiretrack seems to "play" with the feeder guppies, but i cant tell if its tryin to eat them or jsut chase play with them.

You dont want to have to feed live anyways so dont worry about the eel not eating guppies

Try to either with tong or by hand bring some worms like night crawlers down to his level. This always worked for me.

BTW get ready for a bigger tank...the "gars" will grow slow but they will grow

i wasnt worried about it not eatin the guppies, i just didnt think it would eat them, but it was chasing them around. thanks for the tip with the earth worms,

I know the gars goin to grow. Why dont people read the whole way thru threads, especially when its only 10 post long. I have a larger tank sitting right next to the tank there in, AND i have kept hujetas before. he was 9" when i gave him away. All of which was said in this post. Sorry for the rant... No offense Fish eat fish again thanks for the tongs/earthworm tip
