Good on ya for doing the 50% WC. Dose the tank with Prime and get yours hands on some Seachem Stability, dose for a week things will level right out. The prime will detoxify ammo/nitrite while your other filters catch up so add a dose every few days.

use amonia clear its like a mineral that absorbs amonia

okay well i cant exactly get to the store till tomorrow if i can...any other suggestions???

Water change as needed to keep the ammonia/nitrite readings low...

There is already bacteria in your system, just not enough. There is no need to add products that seed your tank, your tank is very well seeded already.

Continue monitoring ammonia/nitrite and continue doing water changes as needed to keep the ammonia/nitrite readings low. In a few days time the bcteria in the system will proprogate to replenish what was lost in the filter failure.

In addition to this process dosing the tank with Prime will also help to "detoxify" the ammonia/nitrite. Keep in mind that Prime will only "detoxify" the ammonia/nitrite for 24 hours so dosing daily is required for this to be of benefit.

I had a filter quit on me a while back on my 36 gallon. Lucky for me, I had two filters (a fluval 4 and a AC50) I replaced the broken fluval with another ac50.

I just tested the water every day (ammoina, nitritem and nitrate), and did 40 to 50% water changes every second to third day and after about 10 days things were OK and I went back to weekly 50% water changes.

okay i'll keep you posted on how that goes thanks guys!
