Mini Xingu??

Thought I'd post a pic of one of my male pups that is turning out really nice. He is not a Xingu, but if he keeps developing this way, he'll be a close rival!

Nice ray! Don't the xingu start out brown like that?

He did start out brown very similar to a xingu. Over the last few weeks he has started to turn from brown to grey/ black darkening up and his spotting is coming through. He really shows a lot of promise.

You are correct Richard. Its Interesting how scobina and xingu pups are so similar. Both start out brown and have a similar look / pattern. This male's pattern and color is developing nicely. Not all scobina turn out with such a contrasting pattern, but the odd one does. He probably won't look as nice as a xingu, but really nice for a scobina. If he come close, I'll be really happy. Close to a xingu lok but staying a small size.

Xingus are variable.

Top is my friend Jason's xingu that is still in my tanks

Second is one of my big females at around 8"

Last is a male pup I produced in 2012



I've got lots more on the way too

One big difference I notice in this thread is that Scobina have very fat beady eyes compared to xingus
