hi ray people
some advice please
My first plunge into rays was not great lost 1 of the 2 i bought as she came in with a huge parasite load, lesson where learnt and second one is flourishing once i got everything right with forum advice, prazi and metro.

my lps has some pure leos pups in and i am really tempted. Biggest problem i have is that the only tank I have available to quarantine is only 320ltr 90cmX60cmX60cm with a canister filter only.
tank is well established and been running as it is currently for 1 year.
The pups are tiny maybe 5" disc and I wanted a pair.

Would it be possible in more experienced keepers eyes to be able to keep these lil guys alive for 4 weeks in a tank with such a small volume. I am well aware of clean water requirements of rays and realistically i am happy doing a 50% water change every day thou i hope this is actually every 3 days just so work load is not too much.

I would also like to find out how many forum members preemptively treat quarantine set ups. thinking a coarse of metro and prazi just to ensure the pups are clear and my existing female is clear as well
many thanks Mark

T top dog , I agree.. for a month they will be fine

If you getting the pups from who I think you are, do Prazipro

Let them settle for two or three days and then do the Prazipro
He does stock the genuine Prazipro now so that's what I have been doing with the last pups I got and its worked like a dream
The tiny little BD I got about 5 weeks ago wasnt eating so well or.. hardly eating
I did her with Prazipro three days after she had settled and on the 4th day after the Prazi she was pouncing on anything you gave her
Same with the P14
I didnt do Metro.
I think the Prazipro has got a certain percentage of metro in it .... I could be wrong.... but as I said, I have only been doing Prazi and its worked like a dream

No worries, always a pleasure
Cesar is actually going there today as Mo asked him to pop in and check them.
As I said, for some time now we have been doing the Prazi two or three days after they home as a precaution

I don't think Mo is the problem because he handles them like gold
I think (and here other more experienced r ay keepers can comment) that like many other animals, rays often carry small amounts of parasites in like a dormant state which their immune systems cope with and you don't even realize it.
However, when put under stress, and these little guys sit in bags, often for over 18 hours before they even land in our Country so they go through a fair amount of stress which can weaken them and whatever dormant parasites they might carry and were immune to under normal circumstances, just take advantage of the ray's temporary stress and weakness to suddenly raise their ugly heads
Prazi doesn't do any harm so... rather be safe than sorry and now I do all new arrivals
