I think your 60 will work fine for a single flowerhorn. Minimum would be a standard 55 gallon. Just gotta keep diligent on water quality in smaller tanks. They are poop machines/dirty fish!!! What are the dimensions? I like to keep them in 75 gallon tanks or bigger for the 18" width. I think it's more important to have good width so they can turn comfortably. The bigger the tank the happier the fish!!! It's fun to play chase fingers in a 125 + gallon tank where you can really let them show off! To add, I prefer odd shaped tanks vs. the traditional for flowerhorns. Footprint and height matter.Hey guys i have a 60 gallon Acrylic tank, is that too small for a Flowerhorn? thanks for any help.
Depends on the quality your LFS can deliver! For 50-75 you probably won't end up with the nicest fish. Maybe you can pick from some fry? You should do some google searches to see if you prefer a type. ZZ red/blue dragon, Kamfa, kamalau, fader types. Most of us start with a ZZ type. The one in my avatar is a ZZ type.thanks for the replies guys, I feel i'll just keep the baby in the 60 gallon and then hopefully try and upgrade later on to a 150 gallon.
Any suggestions on what kind to get ? is LFS ok or order? i'm looking to spend like 50-75.
1 yr is for the 60g and upgrade to 150g is great. My FHs looked the strongest, happiest, and heathiest in a 150g. Minimum a 100g for an adultt FH if you can. But a 60g is enough for one under 8" I think. then upthanks for the replies guys, I feel i'll just keep the baby in the 60 gallon and then hopefully try and upgrade later on to a 150 gallon.
