So I have been patiently looking on Craigs list for a tank sufficient for a Jardini Aro for quite a while now. I have even been looking at places up to 5 hours away! Thought I found a sweet deal, but had to call the lady for dimensions. The tank is at their house that hasn't sold yet and had to get a family member to go get the dimensions. I was excited bc before I got dimensions, she thought it was 6ft long, 2.5 ft depth, and 2 feet tall.

She called today and it was only 18.5" from front to back.:cry: Seems like I have been more worried about depth than I have any other measuremnt. I dont want the jardini to bump his head everytime he turns around.

I was hoping I could get oppinions on what you guys think the minimum depth should be for 1 Jardini. It would help my searching a loooooot. :headbang2

OP: take this as a grain of salt, not an advice, but this is from MY own experience:

a 20" jar is turning around with NO problem in this tank you wanted to buy. it can make a 145 degree turn easily with sufficient clearance fronm front to back. the 3' length gives the jar an adequate swimming distance and the height of 2' is plenty. full grown jars/asians usually max out at 24" in length.

go BIGGER if you can...

i do NOT want to get into another debate (with fish gods) about tank size so whoever wanted to start flames, shoved it.

fish gods? lol there is no such thing.

Well the deal was too good to pass up. 6'L, 18.5"D, 25.5"T, oak stand and top, and an FX5 for 600. I called and arranged to get it next weekend. Whether I put an Jar in it or not is still up in the air. Might just get a smaller predatory fish.
