Minimum tank size for 5 x 9" clown loaches

Any 6'L x 18"W tank long term. But if you just need something right away short term, 4 foot long and 18 inches wide is a minimum. They'll bull rush from side to side on occasion. Good luck and post some pics when you get them!

He understands the value of these big loaches and that's the reason he doesn't want to sell. He's willing to give these to me knowing that it won't be sold or traded.
 
I second the high flow. My loaches, sharks, and tetras all seem to really like current. I use a submersible water pump so I can't comment on Koralia although I have heard good things about them.
 
Koralia, yes, a couple of them. Attach them to the side glass in a group/bundle, row or stack "blowing" across the tanks's long face, probably along the front glass pane. That way the loaches will be front and centre for your entertainment.
Make sure they're running in the right direction after power-cuts.
