Hi am am very interested in buy one of these fish. Now i'm wondering wants the ABSOLUTE minimum tank size for one. One website told me that you can keep one in a 55 gal (highly doubt it). another suggested a 75. They said that they rarely grow to around a foot. On a fish fish book, it says that the Odeo pike grows to 70 cms 9more than 2 feet)!!! What the actual absolute minimum tank size to house a african odoe pike 4 life???:nilly::nilly:

absolute minimum I would say is 150g. Mine jumped out of my 180g about a month ago, he was around 12-13 inches. These fish are fast and explosive so they need a lot of swimming room. I'd say that a 6 foot tank is a must for an adult

Edit: I would expect to get 16 inches out of these fish. Also if it doesn't have enough length it will break its nose up like you see with some gars.

We used to have one at work in the 2000g and it was traded in at 15-16". I would say that a 6x2 footprint is a minimum, and I believe provided the fish is kept alive long enough it should reach at least 18". When keeping these skittish types of fish, you need to have space compared to cichlids or catfish which can survive in smaller tanks. An adult odoe pike is more than capable of smashing it's face on the glass with deadly consequences.

Agree with every one else. They often get confused with Ctenolucius hujeta and therefore a lot of false information is floating around.

Minimum footprint I would also suggest 6'/7'x2'
