minimum tank size? for jar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
for life?
i would say 150 [5x2x2]! but a 180[6x2x2] would be better

150g-200g, for life. height and width preferably 2 feet

Very to the point, but yeah I agree not very kind on the fish to live in such a small area for life. If you want a fish that can't move take a photo. look in your local paper for good buys for bigger tanks, a 125 will do for a while so save those pennies.

i agree with that. you can't skimp on certain aspects of a tank. like size etc. i personally feel that an 8x3x2High is best but i dont keep aro's although my next big project tank is that size exactly for a jar and a couple of native aussie bass. you realise that for you to truly enjoy keeping fish you gotta make it natrual. let it swim with heaps of space. so save up for a few extra weeks months because in the end it'll all be worth it for you and your jar.

I think min. for an aro seem to be as wide and 3 times aslong, when my guys full grown I would like to have him in a 8x3x2 aswell, 2.5 high maybe to give extra room so a school of silver dollars might be accepted and he's further away from bottom dwelling fish

a 6x2x2ft tank should be ok

i cant see how less gravel will make any diffrence

you can keep a jar in a 20g for life but it wont have a very long life
