What would you say would the minimum tank dimentions to house a small group of Satanoperca or Geophagus, with a few biotope specific cories or other dithers?

Also which Satanoperca or Geophagus sp. would you reommend for a beginer to earth eating cichlids?

So far I may be able to get hold of a pre owned jewel 240, 300 or 400 possibly 450 if my parents will travel that extra bit further, so which sp would you recommend and for which tank?

Bigger is always better :) But the important thing is the footprint of the tank, not so much its height. Which particular species do you have in mind?

All the eartheaters I've had are fairly easy to care for, but some may require lower pH (~5) to show full coloration ad to breed (e.g., S. daemon).

I remember your thread from yesterday! These tanks are in liters, correct? Bigger is always better so I'd go with the 450L (~120g). If you can't get the 450 get the 400 (~105g) because these fish do get around 10-12" when fully grown. If you do get the 300 (~80g) you are going to be limited on what geos you can have in the tank because most will out grow the tank, and in that case I'd start looking into gymnogeos.

As for what kind to get it is up to you. I believe they all have about the same amount of care involved. Wait S. daemon is a black water geo so you would have to have more acidic conditions. IMO first make a decession on what tank you are going to get and then decide on the fish, besides you'll have to cycle the tank first so you have some time to decide. And if you do go the smaller tank route here are a couple of gymnogeophagus species you might wanna get http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245002

Hi abarilot, so we meet again!:)
Anyway the only avalible tanks are now the 240, 400, 450 and some other random ones.
So im gonna try n get the 450, it previously held a pair of Sting rays so its pretty heavilly filtered:WHOA:
Anyway do you think I could house a small group of S. daemon with these dimentions.....:drool:http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/data/Image/Zeichnungen/10300.jpg
The only thing that puts me off is that the tank gets less wide in the corners, although I recon they still strech about 18' ish.
Oh well only time will tell........
If I cant get this tank I need some info on various Gymnos and thier habitats+suitable biotope tank mates...... anyone got any info for mah?!!?:nilly:
