Hi all,
The last while I've been looking at the 3d backgrounds people have put together and while they look great they weren't exactly what I wanted.
So I came up with the idea of building minith tirith from lord of the rings and managed to salvage enough polystyrene foam to give it a go. It'll hopefully look similar to this
I had one flat piece of foam and a lot of scrap bits and began by cutting the half circle curves for the walls.

I siliconed them together in layers and glued them to a piece of clear Perspex which will act as a base.[URL=http://s1011.photobucket.com/user/rustyspurs/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0464_zpsf859f396.jpg.html]
I googled how to shape styrofoam and hot wire or knife is apparently the way to go, however when I have started something I have no patience to wait on tools in the post. So I fashioned my own using a camping stove and some BBQ tongs
. It worked like a charm too.

.
Time for the cement
.
I have 2 coats on and will have to touch up a little bit tomorrow, I just hope it drys far lighter than it currently looks.
Time will tell

That's it so far, I'll post how the colour turned out tomorrow.
