I got these minnows at the LFS's feeder shrimp tank.

The first one, I think is a fathead minnow

(sorry, my camera's autofocus didn't want to cooperate with me today so I had to snap these pics with my camcorder)

The next one, I think is a dace of some sort.... maybe? The dorsal fin is a different shape than the fathead so I don't think this is the same species. The head shape is also different.

They both look like fatheads to me. I have one that resembles the second one. A little thicker bodied though since it's been living in my planted community for a while.
 
Thats a fat head minnow (Pimephales promelas) also sold as a crappie minnow at that size at your local bait shop. Believe or not I learned that in my Icthyology class last semester
