Caught this in a minnow trap in a river in Northeast WI. Haven't seen one before as I used to be a lot further north. Also I couldn't find it online. Any help is appreciated.

The pictures are a bit blurry, but it has a relatively tall brown colored body with fluorescent green speckles. Unfortunately it flopped into the water before I could get a better picture or more detailed description.

Thanks!

My immediate thought was Green Sunfish, Lepomis cyanellus, but it's difficult to say for sure without clearer pictures.

Looks like a baby small mouth bass, they have straight lines, whereas large mouth don't, they have a dark greenish black coloration
NOPE! It's a sunfish. Smallmouth bass should have tri- colored tail.

Also, baby smb have a narrower elongated body and no bars at all. Here's mine at about 3" from nearly 2 summers ago
