I got a minnow trap from walmart today and cant seem to close it all the way. Its a metal one with the metal latch thing that you attatch to the two hole on the outer side of the trap. The trap closes but a fish can easily swim out of the gap in the center of the trap.

you have same type I have its quality material but an unreal flaw in the design .
I posted pic of mine in another minnow trap forum below.
You have to use cable ties-wire,etc to close the middle or it WILL open up on you when you haul it in or even laying in bottom of water.
There is no way it will close as it should unless you secure the middle yourself

ok thanks i though it was just me using wrong? I used twistie ties but thought that there was "another way" but guess not
