Minnow Trap
I ordered 2 of these. They should be here in 5 days.
http://www.billssportshop.com/nets/traps1.html

With midnight's urging, I looked up the creeks in my area &
found 1 that empties into the sea.

I want to catch eels, catfish, minnows etc.
There's not too many places to trap around here but
I guess they're hard to find

what ever happened to just hitting up walmart?

I have used almost every trap on that page- and even made custom traps with chickenwire. its like christmas when harvest time comes.

As far as bait goes, I have used Dog food, chunks of meat, scallops, shrimp, a screen bag full o' beefheart, scented rubber worms tied to the inside, and even cheeze!

I also enjoy using a throw/cast net. I almost got arrested for not having a collectors permit.

But I never hace had a chance with Brackish water before, Keep us posted as to what you catch!! good luck!!

sweet, I'm excited to see what you get.

Keep us posted and take pictures.

I don’t think the w@l m@rz around here have traps.
How do you secure the bait? Pantyhose?
I have an old shirt or sock I might use & some string.

What did you say to not get arrested?
There’s a lot of neat stuff in brackish water.

I think I’m going to get a cam @ w@l marz or fryz electronics.

Btw, shipping was $7.95 for 1 trap & the same for 2 traps so might as well get 2.
If I don’t need the extra, I can always sell it.

I catch all sorts of native fish in traps. Darters are my favorites.

I am not sure about the laws in your area but Around Michigans Great Lakes I was told that you need a collectors permit... I still dont have one, I just got more sneakey. Yes pantyhose work But I used The mesh bags used in ehiems to hold filter media.

I have also tied strips of marred bacon and other meat products to the inside with fishingwire. I did catch some baby Stinkpot turtles. Luckily I did not drown them in the trap.

I would LOVE to try some brackish.

as stated before, post some results. We wanna see!! :)

hey, I’ve never seen rangers give any 1 a ticket but they did arrest 6 people for selling baby leopard sharks.

I think 1 week/year, eels migrate from the ocean up-stream, and you can catch hundreds of juvenile eels this way…

I think where I live there’s 3-4 roads that lead to the ocean.
But in 1 of the canals that lead to the ocean, I heard homeless people live there so I might have to fight to back them off.

There's a park near the canals.
There might be a fence around the canal, preventing
unauthorizd entrance...

maybe i can park on the street & sneak n :nilly:
