Minnows

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep pond caught minnows and bluegill fry for feeders and they seem to do pretty well. Since they are feeders the most I keep them for is a month. They eat flake and the bluegills eat earthworms. You don't need a heater.

There are a lot of types of minnows from all over the world and some are cold water while others are tropcal, some are very attractive. This hard to find one gets to 10" and is the Senegal Minnow from Africa. It would do very nicely in a tropical tank. So in order to give a better answer I need more info on the type of minnow you are talking about. Golden shiners are a widespread north American minnow often found in bait shops they adapt to tanks pretty well and also sometimes get up to 12"
