Will mirror placed in the tank for about 1 hour a day make the alpha fish less aggressive towards its tankmates or more aggressive?

it could, no guarantee though. the whole purpose of the mirror trick is to trick the fish into thinking another male of the same species is present in the tank. Males of the same species will fight to gain dominance and the right to breed with females. it will defiantly keep him busy for a while. the mirror trick can also be useful to induce breeding in your tank. give it a shot. best of luck. btw, what kind of fish is it?
