Man it's been a long time, I really miss this !

Had to sell everything for school, i've been looking into either a plywood tank, or a small 100g tank for now.

How long could you stay away from keeping if you had to ?

longest I've gone without fish was about 4 years. I guess I still had them, just left them at my mom's house for a while.

I didn't maintain aquariums when I was in the navy from '86-'92. I got started keeping cichlids in 1977. During the time I was in the navy, I still visited fish stores and talked to fish store owners and emloyees about cichlids. It was different back then, no internet or anything. I pretty much had to drive out to zoos, aquariums, and fish stores to try and maintain my cichlid addiction. The navy didn't really want us keeping aquariums on destroyers. Gets a little rough out there. Would have been nice though, because when I was based in San Diego, we had port visits to cichlid hotspots like Guatamala and Costa Rica.

I have had @ minimum 1 tank for the last 22 years. I could never see myself without
at least one.

I was in the Army. they didn't want us keeping tanks in the barracks because of the possibility of deployment (didn't want us coming home to dead, rotted fish). me and my roommate eventually got one, anyway. we convinced our first sergeant we had a friend off post that would take care of them in case of deployment.

i dont plan to stop keeping fish EVER
i regret the first 12 years of my life that i didn't keep fish for

I don't think (and hope you don't think) anybody plans to stop keeping fish. sometimes in life, situations are outside of your control. life forces you to make decisions you wouldn't choose. you'll learn all about that someday.

Been keeping fish for over 30 years.I had no fish at all for 2 years then only 1 goldfish for about 4,when my kids were young I just didnt have time. Now I got more tanks than ever, and am having more fun with it than ever.
