I had seen a good size arapima, about 18" long at Ocean Blue FS in orange CA. a week or two ago. They wanted $350 for him. I wanted him, but thought, can I handle him when he gets big. I went by O.B. today and was told it was sold. I said that's a load off my shoulders. By the way they have a tank full of small arapimas. Don't know how much they are. Ocean Blue is in the vendors forum if any one is interested. If you can handle them when they get big and looking for an arapima check them out.

What's the smallest Tank you would need for an Arapaima?

5000 gallons?

Though you already owned an arapima?

its not the gallons...its the foot print

a 20 foot diameter pond is about right.....bigger is better
round better than square

they grow 2 or 3 inches a month for the first couple of years and ime get to 4 feet in about 2 years and grow steadily after that but at a slower rate

Sounds like arapima food may eventually cost more than the fish, but then again
thats almost all fishes.. I wonder if arapima eat better than their keepers..
Would love to see some keepers post up pics of these monsters as well :D
